Dying hair jet black and maintaining shine?

My hair is already a very dark brown, and I want to dye it jet black, but I have heard if you do this it will become dull and after doing it a few times will look like "shoe polish" black

How can I avoid this and are there any products I can put on it afterwards to make it extra shiny?

Thanks in advance

Dying hair jet black and maintaining shine?
Sunsilk Thermashine Shampoo and Conditioner

my cousin died her blonde hair black and it look really dull too, so she used thermashine and her hair look beautiful

it moisturized too.
Reply:Go to the a hair salon and there will be a certain shampoo called Redken Color Stay and Shine. It keeps your color in longer by moisterizing it and gives it shine. If the salon that you go to doesn't carry this certain shampoo ask the lady what the best shampoo to maintain shine and colorstay is.

I died my hair lots and lots of times so....

Good Luck.

:D
Reply:my boyfriend dyed his hair black, and its so shiny.

sometimes it gets purple-ish tints in it.

i think some dyes have shine control in them.

use a serum or something when you style your hair, also. that should help all hair colors.
Reply:idk but ask someone who sells hair dye
Reply:well i think that black hair shows off shine better than other hair colours but hey ho. Erm buy a shine shock glosser or conditioning hair mask if you feel the shine is being lost. This will rejuveniate your hair. I dye my hair and as long as you don't do it too often it shouldn't dry out your hair. My hair's pretty shiny anyways lol. Good luck, i'm sure it'll look gorgeous
Reply:I wouldn't dye it jet black. Once you dye your hair black, you will NEVER be able to get back to your original color. I'd go for a darker brown. But, for increased shine use a hair glaze.
