Anyone know how to clean a WHITE LEATHER COUCH ?
If the leather has actually been scratched through the surface you will need to have a pigment colour mixed to match your leather together with details of how to do the repair. Bleach will not do any good and is likely to damage the leather as these are scratches in the pigment and not stains on the surface. Shoe polish will always come off furniture as this is totally the wrong product to use.
Reply:theres a product called leather cpr. very good
Reply:Regardless of what you use, and I personally like the erasers, DO NOT USE BAKING SODA! I work for a baking soda manufacturing plant, and one of the biggest problems our employees have is making work shoes last! I can take a brand new pair of Rebocks to work and toss them in less than a week. Baking Soda is an alkyline and will ruin the leather in a very short time! It robs it of it's moisture, and changes the PH (acidity level) that the tanning process created. Keep in mind that vinegar is an acid, and therefore will also change the properties of the leather. Regardless of what method is used, I would recommend a follow up with warm water and fabric softener to keep the leather supple. Or a treatment of mink oil.
Reply:there is white leather cleaning kits at the store or use alcohol or vinegar
Reply:DO NOT USE SOAP!

This will strip away the coatings and your leather will crack. I have the same problem - I have simply used warm water, and then massaged in some hair conditioner to make the leather supple (without soap).

Leather needs cleaning every week, a wipedown with water every quarter, and leather care product applied. Apparently it will last 20 years if you do this, 2 years if you don't.
Reply:Vinigar pretty much works for everything, I would try that.
Reply:make a baking soda scrub with a little water, then get into the grooves with a toothbrush...it feels like menial work...but it gets the sofa clean, lol.
Reply:they make leather wipes for car seats, maybe try those, if they don't work maybe a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser... that is a great product!
Reply:To keep your leather couche looking nice, mix one cup of salt water (you can make this with one 3/4 cup tap water and 1/4 cup sea salt), two tablespoons of baking soda, and one teaspoon of flour in a large bowl.

Dip wet rag into the mixture and wipe down the couche. Then dry with a dry rag. It will brighten and clean even the dirtiest leather couche.
Reply:white wine. always does the trick!
Reply:Try a Mr clean magic eraser. they work wonders. If the scratch is so deep it goes into the underlying layers then you need to find some white leather dye or touch up. look for it at a leather/craft supply store. or look up furniture repair in the yellow pages.
Reply:mr clean magic eraser

works like a charm
Reply:My husband and I used to do upholstery. We would use a white towel and mineral spirits to clean the toughest spots. Use a leather conditioner afterwards to restore ph levels in the leather.
Reply:why do have a white couch in the first place?
Reply:On an episode of How Clean is your House they used a damp cloth and saddle soap. But if it were me trying not ruin my expensive leather couch I would call a leather expert and ask what to use.
Reply:soap
Reply:hi the best thing to use to clean it is a mixture if warm water with washing powder and a SOFT scrubbing brush that's the best way to clean leather sofas BUTTTTTTTTT you mentioned scratches you wont be able to clean scratches off you will have to cover them try going to a furniture shop that sell leather sofas and ask them about the only way i can describe it is like an enamel / paint stuff and you paint it over "cosmetic" defects such as scrapes and scratches and then you dry it with a hair dryer and a LOW heat failing the furniture shop try an upholsterer who deals with leather good luck dont for gat to condition your sofa when when you have washed it or it will be to dry and crack and split
Reply:get a hot rag that has been soaked in bleach

squeez liquid out completely.wipe your couch down.
Reply:Ive always heard to use hairspray....i dont know if there is any truth to that though...
