How to preserve an autograph on a shoe.....?

Ok, so while down on my spring break i met J.Holiday and he signed my new air force ones i bought. I really liked the pair but i dont want the autograph to wear off if i wear it once or twice. I heard about clear nail polish but i was wondering if that really works and if it discolors the shoes in years to come??? any others tips please let me know.

How to preserve an autograph on a shoe.....?
A lot would depend on what the shoes were made of, leather, cloth, plastic etc and what they were signed with pen, sharpie, pain pen etc.

Generally it's a bad idea to try to "seal" an autograph because the sealant could well react with the ink and blur/fade the autograph.

Your best place for a detailed answer would be on usenet, in the group alt.collecting.autographs. A gentleman wih a signed belt just had a rather detailed answer on preserving the paint pen signature.

Of course as the first poster pointed out, probably the most important thing to do to preserve the signature is to not wear the shoes.
Reply:Don't wear the shoes.....I had some shoes that i had autographed by nonpoint and skindred and i haven't worn them for like 4 or 5 years now,and i only wore them that one time.....so if you like the shoes then just save those and get a new pair.
Reply:well basically you got to keep them in a dry dark place so the ink doesnt see daylight and basically dont wear them because they will be worth alot one day
Reply:Go buy yourself a new pair of Air Force to wear and put those away to sell someday...
Reply:Don't wear em.
Reply:mmm. dont wear them and keep them in a glass case?
