Unfired clay sculpture. what is good for creating a shine effect on the surface?

i am using an unfired clay sculpture inspired by the sculptures currently in the TATE gallery in London.

rather then leave it its natural colour i want to enhance it. i have heard that shoe polish is good for using on unfired clay,

what can i use to give it a slight shine and good look?

try beeswax or wax for furniture or you could try spray varnish for a less shiny finish you can get a matt finish one
Reply:you could try burnishing the clay. when it is leather hard rub it with the back of a spoon untill it shines. wax is also good to create interesting effects. try different types of furniture wax.
Reply:How about using loose powder eyeshadow like Barry M dazzle dust in an appropriate color?
