Dyed my hair black, it was almost black but this is to flat looking very severe looking. suggestions?

My hair is shoe polish black and no various highlights as box


indicated. Can i use a lighter colored permanent hair color


to add some dimension and highlights to this very severe look?

NO any great hairstylist will tell you you are stuck with this until it grows out. The only possible way is to strip bleach the hair and re-color it at the salon. I'm assuming that it has been more than 72 hrs. with the black hair dye? And the fact that it is black I doubt the salon could lift it sans any bleach.





What needs to happen is you need to cut your hair very short and allow the natural color to grow back out. Or you may get it lifted and re-colored, but in order for it to look healthy they will have to cut a good amount off.





Never trust a box. This has been a lesson learned.
Reply:Yes you can get like a highlighting kit. i suggest a dark or dark warm brown to put in it. nothing to milk chocolate tho, it would look funny. defenetly NOT blonde or red! it contrasts to much. but yeah like a dark brown would tottally soften it a bit. good luck:-)

Reply:Not yet. Wait a week %26amp; see if dye doesn't "settle down" a little. Then, if you still want to, absolutely go to a professional salon. You don't want to mess with putting color on top of color by yourself. There's some science to it.
Reply:Oh dear. I did that once. The only thing I was able to do was strip my hair. I would recommend trying a lighter color, but you will need to use a blond/brown. If you use a highlighting kit it may look a little...strange
Reply:using bleach/highlighting kit, is your only option. Hair color will NOT remove hair color. If you want to remove some color from the entire head, use Dawn dishsoap as a shampoo.
Reply:try washing with a clarifying shampoo several times, it should lighten it up to looking more natural
